OK, I was going to just put this in the post below, but these guys deserve their own post. This album has just kicked my ass.




Birushanah - Akai Yami
I didn't even know what I was getting into when I downloaded this. HOOOOOOOLLLLY SHIIIIIIT!! This is the best surprise I've gotten in a long while from a record. Think Corrupted and Geinoh Yamashirogumi. Or Neurosis and traditional Japanese Koto. Either way this is better than you can imagine. This album gets my highest recommendation. If you download NOTHING ELSE on this blog PLEASE GET THIS. If it blows you away even half as much as it did me you'll be amazed. Seems like a lot of stuff on Zorn's Tzadik label has attempted shit like this and failed miserably. This is the real deal, get it while its hot.

You should also head here: Rock Concert and get Fall of Efrafa's Owlsa. It's one of the best and most entertaining crust records I've heard. Melodic, epic, heavy, well composed, everything you need. Hell even if you don't normally go for that type of thing you should grab it. At the very least patronize the guy's blog as he has some very good stuff there. I mean come on, the very next post is a classic punk recording by the Dicks, who are probably my favorite punk group. Good show over there, keep it up!

Urfaust: one of the best new black metal acts to emerge in the past few years. Actually probably THE best. They incorporate genuinely interesting ambient + minimal symphonic sections to their albums, instead of some painted-face nationalist plunking away at a Korg.

Backstabbers Inc. - Bare as Bones

I love this fuckin' band. Intense grind with an insane drummer. I think this release is a bit better than their more recent one, Kamikaze Missions. I saw them in this hole-in-the-wall venue in Blacksburg, VA, and they absolutely destroyed the place. Nice guys too.

In congruence with many positive changes in my lifestyle, I will also be attempting to write with proper form on this blog! I know many of you will miss the wild and woolly no rules style of the past few weeks, but I fear it is for the best that I raise the bar. There comes a time when we must all grow up and for this man, that day is today. This is not to say I will always use correct grammar for as an artist I will continually use my license to entertain YOU. Ok, pretty much all I'm doing is using proper punctuation and capitalization. This is Gil ner Mujima, some of the most fucked up stuff I've heard since Keiji Haino and Fushitsusha. I'm having a hell of a time tracking down any music except for whats on their myspace. There's a whole host of related acts such as YBO2, FJ's solo project, Dakuu, and Astro with Hiroshi Hasegawa. You should all know Astro from CCCC, whose Love and Noises I will probably post soon. If anyone has anything by any of these acts PLEASE let me know. This won't be for everyone because its about as strange sounding as it gets, but I think its worth the effort.

I also pledge to bring you more MMA news and related posts, even if it means just referring you to sherdog articles.

i stumbled onto gloomy lights a few years ago and was pretty blown away. so im glad there's more as of last year. crusty black metal leaning more towards the crust. this might be my favorite band right now.

oh shut up. part two is only two tracks. anyway you know what to expect from aural hypnox. or maybe you dont because i havent posted any halo manash, zoat aon, or aeoga. maybe i should have. maybe i will. well this is as good a place as any to start. certainly the most organic. its dark ritual ambient and about as good as that genre gets. this album is actually what gets played when you visit the Muzeum Alchymie in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic.
